Introducing VIN CHIP: Your Trusted Security Solution

VIN CHIP understands the specific security needs of rural communities across the UK, especially when it comes to protecting valuable assets. To support farms, estates, and rural businesses in Gloucestershire, we’ve partnered with Gloucestershire Constabulary to provide an affordable, trusted security solution. Starting at just £25, VIN CHIP offers an effective way to deter theft and improve the chances of recovering stolen items, protecting rural livelihoods from the rising threat of organised crime.

Nosehill Farm Ltd, a family farm located in Gloucestershire, is among the farms now benefiting from VIN CHIP. This is a mixed farm with sheep, cattle and arable farming, Nosehill Farm faces the financial challenges of market volatility and rising operational costs. Securing their assets is critical for long-term stability and future growth. Tanya Robbins, who farms with husband Tom, shares her experience with VIN CHIP detailing the process from initial inquiry to installation and providing insights into the impact of this valuable security investment.

Tanya Robbins, Nosehill Farm Ltd.: A VIN CHIP Experience

1. Why did you choose VIN CHIP?

“Rural theft is a constant worry. A few years ago, we had a quad bike stolen, experienced diesel thefts, and even saw our farm tracks used as a getaway route after a ram raid at another business. Gloucestershire Police rural team held a meeting for our rural community, where VIN CHIP presented their product. I was immediately impressed with how the system worked and VIN CHIP’s collaboration with police forces across the country. Later, we received a special offer from Gloucestershire NFU, VIN CHIP, and Gloucestershire Police, encouraging us to participate. It was an opportunity we could not pass up.”

2. How did you find the process from enquiry to fitting?

"I applied online by filling out a form detailing our farm vehicles and tractors. Within days, I received a call inviting us to schedule an appointment. Martyn from VIN CHIP came directly to our farm to fit the VIN CHIP devices. The team was helpful over the phone, answering any questions we had along the way."

3. Did you face any challenges during this process? How were they overcome?

"The only challenge was arranging for one of our tractors, which was located off-site, to be brought back to the main farm for the appointment."

4. Did VIN CHIP make the process easy? How did you find working with us?

"The process was very smooth. While finding all the vehicle registration forms took a bit of time, it would have been simpler if my filing system was more organised! After the appointment, the VIN CHIP forms for each vehicle were promptly emailed to us. I spoke with two representatives, and both were incredibly helpful. They even arranged appointments in our local area, and we appreciated the advance communication when they were able to arrive earlier than expected."

5. What advice do you have for anyone looking into a theft detection and forensic security system?

"Martyn explained how VIN CHIP uses the latest forensic security system. My understanding is this system has been designed and developed using police insights to support rural communities like ours. I initially thought securing our older farm equipment would be too expensive, but VIN CHIP is within our price range. I would highly recommend VIN CHIP to other farmers looking for effective, affordable protection."

Additional Thoughts from Tanya Robbins

Community Engagement:
"I’ve spoken to neighbouring farmers and others in Gloucestershire about the special offer. At the moment, Gloucestershire Police and West Mercia are working together with local gamekeepers to arrest poachers. This collaboration is hugely appreciated, and when people complain about a lack of police response, I remind them of this initiative and the importance of reporting thefts and poaching. One contact from Gloucestershire who attended the original VIN CHIP presentation recently called to ask if there would be another meeting, as they found it beneficial for networking and information-sharing."

Increased Confidence in Farm Security:
"Seeing the VIN CHIP sticker on our vehicles is very reassuring. I feel more confident knowing we’re doing everything we can to protect our business. It’s crucial for us to be proactive, working as a farming community and with local police, especially as we’re located on the border of two police areas."

Future Plans with VIN CHIP:
"I’ll certainly use VIN CHIP for any future purchases and will continue to share our positive experience with others."
